After a lovely winter trip, I would say that the Lofoten archipelago is a dream come true even in the winter season for every photographer who wishes to experience the beating heart of Norway.
This was my sixth time in Norway but first in winter time. The atmosphere in Northern Norway was as harsh and beautiful as I thought it would be.
Drenched in the dashing blues of the polar nights, the archipelago becomes the perfect backdrop for anything from quiet walks to a ton of exciting outdoor photography.
We were traveling at the turn of the year and were surprised by good weather for a week. It's true that at that time of the year the sun doesn't get to rise above the horizon at all and during the day there can only be a few hours of light until darkness descends again.
However, the roads were very well maintained and plowed throughout. It was wonderfully quiet everywhere and there weren't many tourists around.
Countless beautiful sea eagles, pastel-colored sunsets and a never-setting moon were the highlights of our trip.
